The American company Chevron is the leader in the production of hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan through investment in the Tengiz and Karachaganak fields. Chevron holds 18% stake in the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating BV (KPO) consortium. The activities of the consortium have led to serious poisoning of children of Berezovka in November 2014. No one has been brought to justice for that.
